There are lots of MOTIFS in Ceremony...

Think of all the small details (cows, stars, rain, sun...) in the novel and talk about what they mean.

    Major Motifs in Ceremony:

    Colors: yellow, blue, green, white, black, brown

    Animals: hummingbird, bear, burro, cattle, horse, mountain lion, spider

    Directions: east, north, south, west

    Seasons: spring, summer, fall, winter

    Other: sunrise, rain, drought, wind, stars
